Many modern “intellectuals” think large groups of people have some sort of hidden wisdom that will benefit society. That’s what Greta Van Susteren thought, anyway, when she tried to get her fans to vote on whether she was smarter than a detractor who accused her of being stupid. They didn’t come through, and 67% agree that she’s the dumb one.
As a former teacher and observer of human foibles, I can tell you that large groups of people aren’t smart. They generally act quite stupid, as a matter of fact. But given that they’re collectively stupid, asking them to judge your intelligence is also pretty stupid. So I guess Greta Van Susteren isn’t very smart, no matter how you frame it.
