People have said some nice things about me and my blog. So far the best compliment I’ve gotten is that it’s like “The Daily Show for education.” I don’t think it’s that good (I don’t have a twelve-person writing staff) but I’m flattered. Also:
I was recently voted the 8th Most Media Savvy Professor in America — huzzah! I also contribute to The Huffington Post and the feminist media site Bitch Flicks, where my defense of rom-coms was the sixth most popular post of 2011. I’ve been featured on NPR and in The USA Today (cough, cough, Mr. Colbert) and interviewed on the radio and in the news.
The blog has been featured on number of “real” education sites, such as The Times Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, Prof Hacker, The Guardian, The New Faculty Majority, and various field-specific forums. Well, at least that lets me know I’m speaking for other people when I complain. Which is probably why I was also featured the aptly-named alt-ed blog, College Misery.
I’ve also been featured in the L.A. Times (for my reportage on Maggie Carey’s Hand Job) and was site of the day on Counter Punch.

Here are some other random compliments I’ve enjoyed (note these are all from the first incarnation of the blog):
“kickass site” –anonymous writer-in from a “super fancy university”
“I think I love you!” — several anonymous women commenters
“She calls herself the ‘Worst Professor Ever’–but right now some of her advice makes me think of her as the ‘Professor’s Best Friend’ (at least in the blogosphere)” — Mom, Ph.D.
From the Twitterverse:
(re: my degree-burning) “I never even opened my phd diploma but this is amazing, made my day!”
“Cackled so hard I choked!”
“Howling here.”
To which I say I very heart-felt thanks, and glad you’re enjoying it.
